AMERICHEM eCAP™ PRE-COLOR COMPOUNDS

With the increased demand for thermoplastic composite building materials, Americhem is helping manufacturers around the globe achieve superior performance with our eCap™ brand of capstocks.

DURABLE CAPSTOCKS FOR BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION

Americhem’s eCap™ brand of pre-color compounds encompasses a complete series of capstocks used across today’s building and construction industry to improve the durability and aesthetics of products manufactured from thermoplastic material. Our high-performance capstock compounds are available in three main polymer types: "enhanced" polyvinyl chloride (ePVC), high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA). Each polymer blend consists of a unique formulation tailored to meet our customers’ specific requirements such as processability, color, gloss and scratch performance. By applying eCap™ to fencing, decking, window and doors and cladding capstocks, manufacturers can increase the weatherability of these products dramatically, often extending their useful life for decades. As a leading developer of performance compounds, Americhem can help you reach your product performance goals while improving process efficiencies.

WHAT IS CAPSTOCK AND HOW DOES IT HELP CONTAIN COSTS FOR MANUFACTURERS?

The use of polymeric materials in modern building and construction segments has grown exponentially in the past decade. For today’s manufacturers, capstocks provide a way for them to produce high-quality outdoor living products cost-effectively. During the co-extrusion process, the core profile of a product (the substrate) is encapsulated with a thin protective outer layer (the capstock). Within the capstock, concentrated ingredients such as impact modifiers, UV additives  and color are added to improve the performance and longevity of the final product.

COLORING OUTDOOR SPACES BEAUTIFUL

Consumers who want beautiful homes and outdoor living spaces are making sensible choices that give them all the benefits of wood material without the frequent maintenance involved in repairing, staining and painting. Americhem’s eCap™ compounds can be matched in a range of custom palette choices, giving the end customer the artisanal hues they want for their project and the peace of mind of knowing that the product won’t fade, warp or require care over time.

eCAP™ ePVC: SUPERIOR WEATHERING PERFORMANCE OVER TRADITIONAL PVC COMPOUNDS

Americhem’s eCap™ ePVC is a rigid PVC formulation that offers outstanding weathering performance over traditional PVC compounds. Ideal for all extruded building product applications, our ePVC offering affords customers the benefit of remaining in PVC while achieving darker color spaces. These capstock compounds are highly customizable for processability and gloss control and are fully compatible with Americhem’s wood grain technology. In addition, ePVC solves weathering consistency challenges often seen with PVC blends while eliminating the effects of moisture whitening.

eCAP™ HDPE AND ASA: TARGETED INDUSTRY SOLUTIONS FOR ARTIFICIAL COMPOSITE DECKING AND MORE

Manufacturers in the composite decking industry specify Americhem’s eCap™ capstock decking compounds, knowing they will improve their products’ weatherability and help them achieve the dark rich colors that consumers prefer. Our HDPE formulations can be manipulated to achieve specific scratch performance and gloss levels. For small batch capabilities, Americhem’s ASA precolor formulations provide a cost-effective capstock choice not only for decks but for fencing, windows and doors, and cladding applications as well. Both HDPE and ASA eCap™ compounds are compatible with Americhem’s wood grain technology.
